Aromatherapy Facial Steps

These are the steps your beautician does for a regular Aromatherapy facial:

  1. Cleansing - Cleans the face of impurities that may prevent product penetration of epidermis. Always double cleanse and utilize streams or hot towels to remove any impurities left behind by the cleanser and the cleanser itself. This will leave the skin squeaky clean and ready for the next step of the process.
  2. Toning - Hydrates and tightens the skin. This step can be skipped or done after the mask.
  3. Exfoliation (Scrub) - Sloughs off dead skin cells, removes dry skin and debris from the surface of the skin, to allow the products to penetrate the skin. Exfoliation is very important for this treatment as it leaves the skin completely prepared for the aromatic oils and massage that comes next.
  4. Aroma Massage - This is the most relaxing part of the whole process. This is done by applying the oil serum with the chosen essential oil blend onto the face. The beautician does a pressure point massage for 15 minutes that helps relaxes the face muscles, feeds the face with important AHAs, and improves blood circulation. This process also helps the oils to penetrate the deeper layer of the epidermis and nourish the skin from the inside. In addition to that, the essential oil massage will help relax the mind and take your thoughts off the problems. After completing the massage, remove the excess oil with damp cotton pads.
  5. Mask Application - This part of the process feeds, tightens, hydrates and detoxifies the skin.  Apply a thin layer of the appropriate vitamin mask and leave it on the face for 5-10 minutes. Gently clean the face with lukewarm water.
  6. Moisturizing - This is the application of a hydrating and moisturizing cream to the surface layer of skin. The beautician also applies a layer of SPF to protect the skin after leaving the spa. This is the last thing that usually finishes off a facial.
